Find Your Area — and Find Out What This Climate Is Actually Doing to Your Garage Door

The Coastal Bend isn’t one climate zone — it’s several. Find your area below and see exactly what this climate means for your garage door.

Why your zip code changes everything

Ask any technician who’s worked garage doors in this region for more than a season and they’ll tell you the same thing: the Coastal Bend isn’t one climate zone, it’s several — and which one you’re in is dictated almost entirely by how much open water sits between your driveway and the Gulf.

A home in 78418 out on Flour Bluff and a home in 78410 up in Calallen are twenty minutes apart. They are not dealing with the same rate of hardware corrosion, and they never will be. A property on Padre Island and one in Kingsville might as well be in different states as far as your springs are concerned.

We built our service area map around that reality rather than drawing a radius on Google Maps. Every area below has its own page with specific guidance — because the honest recommendation for Port Aransas is genuinely different from the honest recommendation for Robstown, and telling you otherwise would mean either overselling you or underserving you.

Tier 1 — Barrier Island & Multi-Directional Water Exposure

Open water on multiple sides or unbuffered Gulf exposure. Standard galvanized hardware can show visible corrosion within a year or two here.

Inspect every 3 months · coastal-grade hardware is the baseline, not an upgrade

High exposure

Port Aransas

Mustang Island, where Hurricane Harvey came ashore in 2017. The hardest environment we service.

High exposure

Padre Island

Direct Gulf on one side, Laguna Madre on the other, no inland buffer.

High exposure

Flour Bluff

Encinal Peninsula, water on three sides (zip 78418, 78419).

High exposure

Rockport

Took a direct hit from Harvey's eyewall; Aransas Bay and Copano Bay exposure.

High exposure

Aransas Pass

Surrounded by Redfish Bay, Aransas Bay, and the channel system.

High exposure

Downtown & North Beach

Bayfront near the USS Lexington (zip 78401–78404).

High exposure

Fulton

Aransas & Copano Bay exposure, and where the Rockport-Fulton area took Harvey's eyewall.

Tier 2 — Direct Bayfront

Direct salt-air exposure, generally from one primary direction.

Inspect every 3 to 4 months · coastal-grade hardware strongly recommended

Southside, Ocean Drive & the Bay Area

Decades-old bayfront homes alongside newer Yorktown Boulevard construction (zip 78411–78414).

Portland

North shore of Nueces Bay, across the Harbor Bridge.

Ingleside

Corpus Christi Bay plus the industrial corridor.

Tier 3 — Coastal Metro, Buffered

Reduced but genuinely present salt exposure.

Inspect every 4 to 6 months · coastal-grade hardware is a worthwhile optional upgrade

Calallen

Northwest Corpus Christi off I-37 (zip 78410).

Annaville

Mixed established and newer development (zip 78410).

Tuloso-Midway

Residential and light commercial (zip 78406).

Gregory

Near the Portland-Ingleside industrial corridor.

Taft

Agricultural, with a modest coastal edge.

Tier 4 — Inland South Texas

Minimal salt exposure. Dust and summer heat matter more here than corrosion.

Inspect every 6 months · standard hardware generally performs to its rated life

Robstown

Agricultural western Nueces County, Highway 44.

Kingsville

Kleberg County, King Ranch and Texas A&M–Kingsville.

Alice

Jim Wells County oil and gas country.

Sinton

San Patricio County seat.

Inland agricultural San Patricio County.

Bishop

Southern Nueces County, industrial and agricultural.

Not Sure Which Tier You're In?

A quick rule of thumb that works for most properties:

✓  Can you see open water from your street? Tier 1 or 2.

✓  Within two to three miles of the bay, Laguna Madre, or Gulf? Tier 2 or 3.

✓  More than five miles inland? Tier 4.

When you’re genuinely between two tiers, err toward the more frequent schedule. An unnecessary inspection costs very little; a missed developing failure costs considerably more.

What Doesn't Change, Anywhere in Our Service Area

✓  Wind-load requirements. Every community listed above sits within Texas coastal windstorm considerations. Requirements vary by your specific address and exposure category rather than by city or county. We check yours at no charge. See our Nueces County wind codes guide →

✓  Our pricing approach. A firm written price before any work begins, in Kingsville the same as in Flour Bluff. See our pricing guarantee →

✓  Same-day availability in most cases, seven days a week, with emergency situations prioritized.

Frequently Asked Questions

All of Corpus Christi including Flour Bluff, Padre Island, Southside, Ocean Drive, Calallen, Annaville, Tuloso-Midway, Downtown and North Beach — plus the wider Coastal Bend across Nueces, San Patricio, Aransas, Kleberg, and Jim Wells counties, including Port Aransas, Rockport, Fulton, Portland, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, Robstown, Kingsville, Alice, Sinton, Gregory, Odem, Taft, Bishop, Driscoll, Banquete, and Agua Dulce.

Because proximity to open water directly determines how fast your hardware corrodes. A standard spring in Port Aransas can show corrosion within a year or two, while the same spring in Kingsville often reaches its full rated life. Knowing your area lets us recommend the right hardware and inspection interval rather than a one-size-fits-all answer.

Port Aransas, Padre Island, Flour Bluff, Rockport, Fulton, and Aransas Pass — anywhere with open water on multiple sides or unbuffered Gulf exposure. These are the areas where coastal-grade hardware is genuinely necessary rather than optional.

We service these communities as part of regular routing rather than as special trips, and we'll confirm any applicable charge when you call rather than adding it later.

In most cases, across the metro and the closer Coastal Bend communities. Outlying areas like Alice, Kingsville, or Port Aransas — where ferry timing can be a factor — may require slightly more lead time, and we'll give you an honest window rather than an optimistic one.
